The Mr. Porter Experience

So, there I was, searching high and low around the web for cheap candles (yes judge me please). What I meant by cheap is, the candle is supposed to be cheaper than what they sell here in my home country – Malaysia. Well as you all might know, some brands in my country are being brought in by third party – ie. Diptyque is actually under Ken’s Apothecary while Givenchy is managed by Melium; you’ll get the gist. 

But why candles though? Well, I have been indulging myself in fragrances a tad too much lately. To be honest, I have around 11+ Jo Malones, not including several designer labels which I seemed to have forgotten about them these days (once you go niche, you’ll never look back). And there I was, stumbled upon Mr. Porter, comparing their price with the local ones here. Comparison:

Well that seems to be a bargain! I’ve checked Mr. Porter for any extra charges and shipping fees. To my surprise, there is none! Seemed too good to be true? Well one way to find out!

I clicked checkout and paid my first candle!

So, I placed my order on 10^th of May, which is a Sunday. But to my surprise, I received notification about my package getting ready to be shipped, awaiting pickup from DHL on the next day. The rest is history, but the package was shipped with DHL Worldwide Express which took around 3 days to arrive my doorstep. Now let’s dive in!

Packaging: A+

Packaging is superb. It came with a box in a box. The candle is bubble wrapped with soft tissue and enclosed within the infamous Mr. Porter box. Quality of the box is excellent, it is study enough to minimize any bells and whistles that happens along the logistic process. 

Details: A

Mr. Porter’s attention to small details are amazing. Mini welcome package, personalized tissue stickers and customizable wish card has just up the ante of online shopping to the next level. (Psst: I don’t even get that kind of treatment from Farfetch for ordering a Givenchy bag).

Shipping: A

Item dispatches within 24 hours after you place your order. They carefully wrap your item before handling it to the courier – which is DHL. After being handled over, it all depends on DHL’s flight schedule – which may affect your estimated delivery date in times of high traffic during the holidays (take note!).

Final Verdict: 

Will I order from Mr. Porter again? You bet I would. They sure know how to make you feel luxurious without even spending too much. Overall service is excellent, fast and hassle free. And not to forget, free shipping with DHL Express Worldwide will make other’s envy as your item arrives not only faster, but nicely packaged as well J.
